About The Position

The position is for a Registered Nurse in Family Medicine at Advocate Health, specifically at the AMG Plymouth Kiley Way location. This is a full-time role requiring 36 hours per week, with typical hours from 7:45 AM to 5:15 PM, and a possible range from 6:45 AM to 5:15 PM. The schedule will be determined based on department needs, and days off may vary. The role involves using the nursing process to provide ongoing care, recognizing and responding to changes in patient status, and prioritizing patient care based on essential needs. The nurse will also be responsible for triage, consultation, and communication with physicians and other healthcare team members.

Requirements

• Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the team member practices.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months.
• Associate's Degree in Nursing.
• No experience required.

Responsibilities

• Uses the nursing process to provide ongoing care (assess, plan, intervention, and evaluation).
• Recognizes and responds to changes in a patient's status and need for care.
• Determines priorities of patient care based on essential patient needs.
• Provides triage and consultation to patient, family, and/or significant others according to protocol and organization guidelines.
• Communicates with physicians and other members of the health care team.
• Documents and communicates accurate and timely information regarding patient conditions.
• Prepares and rooms the patient for exam by obtaining vital signs and documenting/updating pertinent health information.
• Performs laboratory procedures using principles of aseptic technique and standard precautions.
• Assists the physician/provider with procedures and surgeries.
• Administers medications under physician/provider orders.
• Initiates, maintains and discontinues IV therapy.
• Assesses and provides patient education and counseling.
• Follows through with necessary procedure or test requests, prescription refills, and referrals.
• Performs advanced clinical tasks or skills with demonstrated competency.
• Assists in the development and implementation of staff orientation and educational activities.
• Acts as an expert clinical and department resource.
• Organizes and prepares exam rooms, lab and work areas.
• Completes routine maintenance and quality monitoring of clinic equipment.
