About The Position

The position is for a Registered Nurse in the Family Medicine department at Advocate Health, which is a full-time role requiring 36 hours per week. The clinic operates Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with the day off dependent on clinic needs. The pay range for this position is between $32.45 and $48.70 per hour. The role involves using the nursing process to provide ongoing care, recognizing and responding to changes in patient status, and determining priorities based on essential patient needs. Responsibilities include triage, consultation, documentation, performing laboratory procedures, assisting with procedures, administering medications, and providing patient education. The nurse will also be involved in staff orientation and competency development, and may provide work direction to other staff.

Requirements

• Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the team member practices.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months.
• Associate's Degree in Nursing.
• No experience required.
• Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively make critical, independent decisions.
• Excellent organization, prioritization and problem solving skills.
• Demonstrated leadership skills including delegation and building team rapport.
• Proficient computer skills including keyboarding and use of electronic medical records systems.

Responsibilities

• Uses the nursing process to provide ongoing care (assess, plan, intervention, and evaluation).
• Recognizes and responds to changes in a patient's status and need for care.
• Determines priorities of patient care based on essential patient needs.
• Provides triage and consultation to patient, family, and/or significant others according to protocol and organization guidelines.
• Communicates with physicians and other members of the health care team.
• Documents and communicates accurate and timely information regarding patient conditions.
• Prepares and rooms the patient for exam by obtaining vital signs and documenting/updating pertinent health information.
• Performs laboratory procedures using principles of aseptic technique and standard precautions.
• Assists the physician/provider with procedures and surgeries.
• Administers medications under physician/provider orders.
• Initiates, maintains and discontinues IV therapy.
• Assesses and provides basic to complex patient education and counseling.
• Follows through with necessary procedure or test requests, prescription refills, and referrals.
• Performs advanced clinical tasks or skills with demonstrated competency.
• Assists in the development and implementation of staff orientation and educational activities.
• Acts as an expert clinical and department resource.
• Organizes and prepares exam rooms, lab and work areas.
• Completes routine maintenance and quality monitoring of clinic equipment.
