About The Position

This is a temporary position until approximately the end of November 2026. This individual will provide direct patient care in the outpatient Infusion Center. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: patient assessment, side effect management, administration of chemotherapy, biotherapy, and other infusions and injections, central venous access management, assistance with patient cares, and management of a busy infusion schedule. Many responsibilities include working with physicians, dietitians, social workers, pharmacists, and others. Supports and implements patient safety and other safety practices as appropriate. Maintains professional competencies by obtaining/maintaining the Oncology Nursing Society Chemotherapy/Biotherapy provider certification, attending educational programs, participates in professional organizations, subscribing to the reading professional journals or other appropriate activities.

Requirements

  • Graduate from a nursing program required.
  • Current licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Minnesota required.
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Healthcare Provider card required per established policy
  • Obtain Oncology Nurse Society (ONS) Chemotherapy provider card within 6 months of hire.
  • Current ONS provider card must be maintained at all times.
  • A minimum of 1 year acute care experience preferred.
  • To be eligible for the hiring bonus you must be an external candidate who is hired into an eligible full time or part time benefited position.
  • Previous CentraCare employees qualify if they have not worked for CentraCare for at least 9 months at the date of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • BSN preferred but required within 3 years of hire.
  • National Oncology Nursing Certification (OCN) preferred.
  • Ambulatory or Oncology nursing experience preferred, including telephone triage, symptom management, and administration of chemotherapy and management of venous access devices.
  • Demonstrates ability to effectively intervene with a patient in crisis, recognize abnormal lab results and other diagnostic testing results, skills with patient education.
