About The Position

At Kapi'olani Medical Center for Women & Children, the Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit provides continuous acute care to newborns of up to three months, including meeting the complex psychosocial needs of both the child and their family. Nursing and medical support staff in the NICU work with the Neonatology team to care for premature babies and assist in pediatric surgeries, providing care to newborn infants with cardiovascular and/or respiratory disease and infants requiring treatments for various diagnoses including infection and surgery. Support and education is delivered to patients and family in an atmosphere that promotes bonding of the family unit. If you have exceptional patient care skills and enjoy working as part of a dedicated nursing team, you can help us to ensure a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment for patients and their families as a Charge Nurse in Kapi'olani's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. You would be responsible for coordinating nursing activity during assigned shifts; delegating nursing care assignments based on available staff and resources; and overseeing appropriate patient care within nursing and departmental guidelines. This position is for someone qualified and assertive, with excellent communication skills, a strong sense of quality control, the ability to manage staff and unit work priorities and a commitment to helping our organization deliver the highest quality health care to Hawai'i's people.

Requirements

  • Current Hawai'i Registered Nurse License.
  • Current American Heart Association Health Care Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) CPR cards.
  • Two (2) years recent acute care Registered Nurse experience in a Newborn Intensive Care Unit, including six (6) months relief charge nurse experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field.
  • Current American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatrics Advanced Life Support (PALS) CPR cards.
