About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Cath Lab at Mayo Clinic is responsible for coordinating nursing care, which includes direct patient care, patient and family education, and managing transitions of care. The RN will work within the Mayo Clinic Nursing Professional Practice Model, ensuring accountability for all phases of nursing care for assigned patients. This role emphasizes leadership, communication, and quality improvement, while also requiring the ability to adapt to unpredictable situations in a team-oriented environment.

Requirements

• Graduate of a nursing program.
• Current RN license by applicable state requirements.
• One year of RN experience in an applicable care setting or one year of LPN experience at Mayo Clinic is preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work in a team environment and adapt to unpredictable situations.
• Demonstrated leadership and critical thinking skills.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification as required by the work area.

Nice To Haves

• Additional state licensure(s) and/or specialty certification/training as required by the work area.
• Prior experience with electronic medical record systems.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate nursing care for patients in the Cath Lab.
• Provide direct patient care and education to patients and families.
• Support professional nursing practice across various settings.
• Plan, implement, evaluate, and communicate all phases of nursing care.
• Delegate patient care based on skill level, experience, and patient acuity.
• Participate in quality improvement efforts and committees.
• Mentor and teach other nursing staff as needed.
