About The Position

The position is within the Medical Intensive Care Unit, where the nurse collaborates with physicians to create a care plan aimed at returning patients to optimal health. The role involves providing bedside nursing care, executing medical orders, and overseeing the functions of various support staff including Nurse Assistants and Patient Care Associates. The nurse is also responsible for evaluating the effectiveness of the care plan.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Current license to practice in the state of Michigan.
• BLS issued by American Heart Association or Red Cross Certification.
• ACLS issued by American Heart Association or Red Cross Certification and Critical Care Course.
• Basic Dysrhythmia course.
• Minimum one (1) year of comparable experience in CCU.

Responsibilities

• Integrating evidence-based knowledge into practice.
• Delegation and coordination of tasks and assignments of nursing care.
• Facilitates/participates in patient conferences.
• Identifies and provides the means to meet patients’ ongoing and discharge/transfer teaching needs.
• Assumes responsibility for professional growth by seeking out educational opportunities.
• Teaches and/or guides professional and ancillary personnel.
• Precepts/mentors new employees and students.
• Functions as a team leader to ensure proper patient placement and delegation of assignments.
