About The Position

Deliver care to patients and families with needs ranging from basic to complex utilizing the nursing process. Create a therapeutic and caring environment for patient and families, practicing in a manner consistent with the Elliot Hospital Interprofessional Practice model, the ANA’s Social Policy Statement, Scope and Standards of Practice, the Nursing Code of Ethics, and relevant specialty standards of practice.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required.
  • New Hampshire Registered Nurse or Compact State Registered Nurse license required.
  • Ability to obtain BLS qualification during orientation period and maintain throughout employment in position.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of nursing experience, of which one year must be cardiac/telemetry experience, required.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and competency in performance of non-invasive cardiology procedures including pre, intra and post procedure requirements.
  • Demonstrate knowledge regarding use of medications including emergency drugs, moderate sedation, and reversal agents.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
  • Nurses are expected to pursue professional certification upon eligibility or within three (3) years of entering the specialty practice.

Responsibilities

  • Embrace and promote change to support optimal patient outcomes and an effective professional practice environment.
  • Assist in non-invasive cardiac testing procedures pharmacological and non-pharmacological stress testing, transesophageal echocardiograms and electrical cardioversions and any other cardiovascular testing as applicable.
  • Involves patient/family in goal setting and planning and communicates plan of care to patient and family for input, as well as to colleagues to ensure seamless care across shifts and settings.
  • Complete pre-procedure assessment based on patient/family interview, examination, and review of clinical data; communicate patient status and patient needs to physician and other team members.
  • Demonstrate accountability for continued professional growth and development and for own role in the smooth operations of the unit.
  • Utilize current evidence and relevant national/specialty standards to guide practice and/or performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Demonstrate competent clinical practice utilizing clinical decision making and critical thinking skills.
  • Work must be performed on-site.
  • Work schedule may include 8-12 hours per day with weekend/holiday coverage based on individual unit needs, with the expectation that personnel cover for absences by rotating, working extra shifts, or use of on-call as needed.
  • Work is assigned to one area upon employment but may be required to assume assignments in other areas to meet patient needs.
  • Effectively manage emergent patient situations in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Perform basic life support.
