About The Position

St. Joseph's Health is now offering a weekend RN coverage option in the form of the Baylor Program. The schedule commitment includes three 12-hour shifts from Friday to Sunday, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM. St. Joseph's Health (SJH) is a leader in cardiac care, performing more than 1000 open heart procedures per year. The hospital is known for its advanced techniques in prevention, detection, and treatment of heart disease, including robotic and minimally invasive surgeries. SJH is the only hospital in Central New York to provide transcatheter aortic valve replacement for higher-risk patients. The position offers a collaborative team approach, allowing nurses to coordinate and direct care with surgeons and other clinical staff. The work environment is clinical, with a focus on providing quality nursing care in accordance with established standards.

Requirements

  • Greater than one year of operating room or procedural nursing experience required.
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and current licensure, or eligibility for licensure, in the State of New York.
  • Maintains current BLS/CPR certification.
  • Participates in orientation and continuing education to maintain knowledge and skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in cardiac care or related fields.
  • National certification in nursing specialties.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and assist with procedures, delivering care modalities including care of critically ill patients in the OR suite.
  • Support patient care in all phases including pre-induction, perioperative, intraoperative, and post-anesthesia.
  • Coordinate and direct care with surgeons, clinical affiliates, scrub techs, and circulating RNs.
  • Ensure quality nursing care is rendered to all patients in accordance with the New York Nurse Practice Act and National Standards of Practice.
  • Utilize the Nursing Process to plan, direct, and supervise the care of patients.
