About The Position

Join a collaborative and compassionate team in our Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU), where your expertise—and your heart—make a meaningful impact. We’re seeking an open‑minded, eager to‑learn Registered Nurse for a night shift role working three 12‑hour shifts per week. This opportunity is ideal for a nurse who thrives in a high‑acuity environment and is committed to delivering exceptional, patient‑centered care during the critical overnight hours. As a CVICU RN, you’ll care for a diverse and complex patient population, including individuals recovering from open‑heart, abdominal, and vascular surgeries, as well as patients experiencing cardiogenic shock, respiratory failure, COPD, and other serious conditions. Your skill and compassion will support patients and families when they need it most, while you work alongside a dedicated, team‑focused group of night shift professionals.

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
  • Current New York State Registered Nurse License

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Previous clinical nursing experience in an acute care or ambulatory setting
  • CCRN certification
  • Additional skills certifications as required (e.g., ACLS, PALS, TNCC)

Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, coordinate, implement, and evaluate nursing care for a group of patients
  • Serve as a primary or accountable nurse based on unit needs
  • Educate patients and families on health promotion and disease management
  • Safely administer medications according to UHS policies
  • Support effective resource utilization, including staffing, time, and supplies
  • Comply with all nursing practice standards, regulatory requirements, and UHS policies
  • Participate in Nursing Shared Governance, Unit Council, and improvement initiatives
  • Contribute to peer review, evidence‑based practice, and quality improvement
  • Provide support and guidance to new employees and students
  • Perform Charge Nurse or Shift Coordinator responsibilities when assigned
  • Engage in ongoing professional development, continuing education, and mandatory training
  • Participate in the Clinical Ladder Program as your expertise grows
