About The Position

The position is for a nursing role in the 5 East Cardiology Stepdown department, focusing on providing bedside nursing care and collaborating with physicians to create effective care plans for patients. The nurse will oversee various support roles and is responsible for evaluating the effectiveness of care plans.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Current license to practice in the state of Michigan.
• BLS issued by American Heart Association or Red Cross Certification.
• Must satisfactorily complete the first available basic dysrhythmia course.
• ACLS within one year of hire/transfer.
• NIHSS Certification; if not current, must be obtained within twelve months of hire/transfer.

Nice To Haves

• Six (6) months experience in an acute care setting or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Integrates evidence-based knowledge into practice.
• Delegates and coordinates tasks and assignments of nursing care.
• Facilitates/participates in patient conferences.
• Identifies and provides means to meet patients’ ongoing and discharge/transfer teaching needs.
• Communicates with appropriate resource persons and attends discharge/transfer planning conferences.
• Seeks out educational opportunities for professional growth.
• Teaches and/or guides professional and ancillary personnel.
• Precepts/mentors new employees and students.
• Functions as a team leader to ensure proper patient placement and delegation of assignments.
