Requirements
- Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelors of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
- Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
- Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
- Other advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
- May require ability to assess patients without face-to-face interaction.
- Requires awareness and understanding of legal implications of patient care activities and performance as a Registered Nurse.
Responsibilities
- Answering incoming live calls for very busy Cardiology department using nursing judgement to triage appropriately based upon IU Health and departmental protocols for 24 Cardiology providers.
- Calling patients to discuss abnormal test results and provide physician direction.
- Triaging in office patient nurse visits (medication questions, site checks, etc.)
- May occasionally be asked to assist in other departments within the multi-Specialty practice when staffing needs arise.
- Serve as a patient advocate in communications between patient and physician.
