About The Position

The R.N. II maintains quality patient care through consistent standards of nursing practice in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team. Utilizes the nursing process: assess, diagnosis, plan, implement and evaluate to execute appropriate individual patient care. Responsible for orientation, training/precepting, and mentoring of other staff on the unit. The R.N. is instrumental in providing an exceptional experience for patient and family. With three dedicated operating rooms, four state-of-the-art cardiac labs, and two electrophysiology labs at Rochester General Hospital, SCHI is able to ensure that your heart health needs are met and was named among the top 10% in the nation for cardiology services.

Requirements

  • Diploma or Associate’s Degree in Nursing required.
  • Registered Nurse license in New York State.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
  • Minimum of 6 months of experience as a Registered Nurse.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Nursing preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform initial and ongoing assessment of the patient; demonstrate exceptional clinical judgment and advanced assessment skills; communicate and document assessment with interdisciplinary team; utilize all available resources in order to meet the needs of the patient and family.
  • Develop and document plan of care, treatment and services; collaborate interdisciplinary health team to deliver care; maintains an appropriate nurse-patient relationship and provides an exceptional experience for the patient and family.
  • Evaluate, communicate and document patient responses to care; revise plan of care based on ongoing evaluations; ensure the patient receives and understands education/training specific to their needs and abilities.
  • Provide training for new team members on the unit; assume role of teacher for nursing students and other students shadowing on the unit; act as a resource for other team members for both clinical and non-clinical matters.
