About The Position

Provides direct patient care, coordinates treatment plans, and collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to ensure quality outcomes. Maintains clinical documentation, adheres to safety protocols, and supports patient education and advocacy. Job Function 1: Patient Assessment ; Perform systematic, comprehensive, and accurate assessments. Assess potential discharge needs during the initial assessment process. Monitor effects of medications and treatments and report adverse effects in a timely manner. Assess patient for pain level. Provide appropriate intervention, reassessment, and documentation. Systematically monitor the maintenance of protocols, standards, and plans of care. Plans and provides individualized patient education. Job Function 2: Demonstrate competent clinical skills. Perform nursing-related skills and activities competently. Analyze situations critically. Maintain complete and accurate documentation. Identify and document realistic long and short-term goals. Complete interdisciplinary plan of care record. Participate in interdisciplinary rounds. Evaluate the effectiveness of interventions and revise the plan of care as needed. Recognize and evaluate patient and family responses to therapies and nursing interventions. Job Function 3: Communicate clearly and effectively with all members of the healthcare team. Complete hand-off communication and give complete reports to other caregivers. Job Function 4: Demonstrate critical thinking and time management skills necessary for effective patient care. Assume responsibility and accountability for the safe nursing care of assigned patients. Delegate responsibilities appropriately to others. Conducts regular patient rounds to ensure safety and enhance patient experience. Actively participates in daily interdisciplinary huddles to support coordinated care. Utilizes approved clinical communication tools (e.g., Vocera) in accordance with organizational standards. Job Function 5: Adhere to OSHA, Joint Commission, Standards of Nursing Practice supported by NJ BON, professional association, ANA Code of Ethics & Scope of Standards and Practice NJ Board of Health, and hospital standards. Use two patient identifiers and check allergies before medication administration. Follow hand washing protocols and maintain isolation precautions. Properly use and store equipment, checking expiration dates. Demonstrate leadership and function as a resource/mentor. Actively participates in Shared Governance.

Requirements

  • Valid NJ Registered Nursing or NJ compact License
  • Minimum of two years acute care nursing experience required
  • 1 year of critical care experience preferred
  • BLS Required
  • ACLS Required
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, acute care environment
  • Ability to physically navigate within the cath lab holding area, safely, rapidly and efficiently, especially when providing pre and post procedural care to both IP and OP
  • Ability to assist Cath Lab team members in procedure room if necessary
  • Standing for extended periods of time
  • Handling Equipment: (safely move heavy medical equipment (i.e.: IABP), large display monitors, defibrillators, and other machines/devices)

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred
  • Education must be obtained from an accredited institution
  • Cardiac care experience preferred-Comfortable with TEE/CV, telemetry and hemodynamics
