About The Position

The Registered Nurse Cardiac Cath Lab I RN plays a critical role in providing specialized nursing care to patients undergoing cardiac catheterization and related interventional procedures. This position involves preparing patients for procedures, monitoring their condition throughout, and delivering post-procedure care to ensure optimal recovery and safety. The nurse collaborates closely with cardiologists, technologists, and other healthcare professionals to facilitate smooth procedural flow and respond promptly to any complications. Emphasis is placed on patient education, emotional support, and adherence to strict clinical protocols to maintain high standards of care. Ultimately, this role contributes significantly to the successful diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular conditions, improving patient outcomes and quality of life.

Requirements

  • Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the United States.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Completion of an accredited nursing program (Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing).
  • Experience or clinical exposure in cardiac care or critical care nursing.
  • Strong understanding of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and common cardiovascular procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Previous experience working in a cardiac catheterization lab or interventional cardiology setting.
  • Certification in Cardiac Vascular Nursing (RCVNS) or similar specialty credential.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems used in cardiology departments.
  • Demonstrated skills in patient education and counseling specific to cardiac health.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for cardiac catheterization procedures by reviewing medical history, obtaining vital signs, and ensuring informed consent is documented.
  • Assist the cardiology team during procedures by monitoring patient status, managing equipment, and administering medications as directed.
  • Provide continuous assessment and care to patients during and after procedures, including monitoring for complications and managing post-procedure recovery.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of patient care, procedural details, and any interventions performed.
  • Educate patients and their families about the procedure, post-procedure care, and lifestyle modifications to support cardiovascular health.
