About The Position

The position is within the Cardiac Catheterization Lab-EP department, where the nurse collaborates with physicians to provide a comprehensive plan of care aimed at returning patients to optimal health. The role involves providing bedside nursing care, executing medical orders, and overseeing the functions of various support staff including Nurse Assistants and Patient Care Associates. The nurse is responsible for evaluating the effectiveness of care plans and ensuring that patient needs are met throughout their care journey.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and holding a current license to practice in the state of Michigan.
• Minimum one-year clinical experience in critical care area/special procedures/surgery and step-down cardiac care.
• BLS Certification by American Heart Association or Red Cross.
• Advance cardiac life support (ACLS) certification.
• Proficient in computer applications.

Nice To Haves

• Previous cardiac catheterization laboratory or CVH experience.
• Six months experience in an acute care setting or equivalent preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
• E.P. experience for E.P. staff members only.
• Dysrhythmia interpretation and management.
• Advanced mapping experience.
• Experience in EP.

Responsibilities

• Integrate evidence-based knowledge into practice.
• Delegate and coordinate tasks and assignments of nursing care.
• Facilitate and participate in patient conferences.
• Identify and provide means to meet patients’ ongoing and discharge/transfer teaching needs.
• Communicate with appropriate resource persons and attend discharge/transfer planning conferences.
• Seek out educational opportunities for professional growth.
• Teach and guide professional and ancillary personnel.
• Precept and mentor new employees and students.
• Function as a team leader to ensure proper patient placement and delegation of assignments.
