About The Position

Requirements

• Licensed as a Registered Nurse and authorized by the State of Iowa to practice nursing or has active multistate license approved by the Nurse Licensure Compact.
• Achievement of Baccalaureate degree in nursing within 6 years of hire if hired after January 1, 2014.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) training, or within 90 days of hire and must maintain throughout employment.
• Mandatory Reporter training or within 90 days of hire and must maintain throughout employment.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program certification within 90-day introductory period.
• Maintain stroke education per regulatory requirements.

Nice To Haves

• Baccalaureate degree in nursing.
• Professional certification in nursing specialty.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification, as necessary.

Responsibilities

• Provides post partum cares for mother/baby couplet.
• Attends deliveries.
• Practices the 10 steps to being baby friendly and promotes breastfeeding.
• Participates in cross training through the orientation process to several skill sets including postpartum, NICU and operating room newborn cares.
• Performs according to AORN standards and recommended practices.
• Provides education, orientation and mentoring to new staff, students and other hospital employees.
• Performs related work per orientation and position competency checklists and skills validation.
