About The Position

Join BJC Behavioral Health in a new RN position open due to growth! Day to day responsibilities: Administering long - term psychiatric medication injections Drawing labs Collaborative care for clients Educating patients and reaching clients on their level of understanding Substance abuse disorder education Hours Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. No weekends, nights, holidays or call. Three Locations: S. Kingshighway. Lindbergh Business Court Graham Road Preferred Experience: Some psychiatric behavioral health experience Overview BJC Behavioral Health is a community health center that provides and coordinates behavioral health services for more than 8,000 seriously mentally ill adults and seriously emotionally disturbed children in St. Louis City, St. Louis County, St. François, Iron and Washington counties. As an Administrative Agent of the Missouri Department of Mental Health (DMH), BJC Behavioral Health serves as a major point of entry for people eligible for mental health services funded by DMH and is responsible for serving as gatekeeper to the public mental health system.

Responsibilities

  • Administering long - term psychiatric medication injections

  • Educating patients and reaching clients on their level of understanding
  • Substance abuse disorder education
  • Responsible for assuring that the health needs of clients and staff are addressed through various means including, but not limited to, direct care, staff education, chart reviews, occupational health and infection surveillance.
  • Assess patient preferences and barriers to involvement in care, including their values, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population-specific needs.
  • Develops, implements, and documents individual plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with other members of the interprofessional team and patient, family or caregiver in accordance with the established guidelines and standards of nursing care. Proactively plans and ensures communication of the plan of care across the continuum of care.
  • Promotes respect, equity and empathy in interactions with diverse and vulnerable populations through care delivery (e.g., support for emotional, spiritual, and cultural preferences of patient, family and/or caregivers). Practices collaborative problem solving, service recovery and advocacy for patient family centered continuity of care. Implements care by integrating data from the interprofessional team and critical thinking in a safe and timely manner.
  • Evaluates changes in patient's condition, informs and collaborates with family and/or caregivers, and communicates with interprofessional team as changes occur in plan of care, updates plan of care in EMR. Evaluates current nursing care to ensure evidence-based practice and quality patient outcomes.
