About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) – Geriatric Behavioral Health provides comprehensive direct and indirect nursing care to patients in the Geriatric Psychiatry unit. This role is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient-centered care that addresses psychosocial, physical, and emotional needs. The RN collabor closely with interdisciplinary teams to promote patient safety, therapeutic outcomes, crisis stabilization, and compliance with regulatory standards.

Requirements

• Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
• Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Texas.
• Current BLS (CPR) from American Heart Association.

Nice To Haves

• One-year experience in a psychiatric setting.
• Emergency Room or Psyche experience

Responsibilities

• Conduct patient assessments and develop individualized care plans
• Provide therapeutic nursing care, education, and crisis intervention
• Monitor patients with cognitive, emotional, and behavioral disorders
• Respond to and manage crisis situations using de-escalation techniques
• Document patient care accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR)
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and care teams
• Maintain compliance with HIPAA, hospital policies, and regulatory standards
• Support patient safety, quality improvement initiatives, and team collaboration
• Mentor and support nursing assistants and new staff
