About The Position

Position Summary The Emergency Department RN delivers patient‑centered care for individuals with medical, trauma, and behavioral health needs. This role is primarily in the behavioral health unit to provide safe assessment, de‑escalation, and management of patients experiencing psychiatric crises or co‑occurring conditions. The RN collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to ensure high‑quality, compassionate, and safe care.

Requirements

  • Active RN license.
  • BLS and ACLS/PALS required
  • RN license in the State of Florida
  • Strong critical thinking and rapid assessment abilities.
  • Effective crisis management and de‑escalation skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork.
  • Ability to maintain safety and professionalism in fast‑paced, high‑stress situations.

Nice To Haves

  • One year of Emergency or acute care nursing experience preferred.
  • Behavioral health experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform triage, assessments, and emergency interventions for diverse patient populations.
  • Complete behavioral health assessments and implement safety protocols, including suicide risk screenings and observation levels.
  • Utilize de‑escalation techniques.
  • Collaborate with psychiatry, social work, security, and ED providers to support patient care and disposition.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and comply with regulatory standards and departmental policies.
  • Participate in required behavioral health training, emergency skills validation, and ongoing competency development.
  • Accurately document nursing assessments, interventions, and patient observations.
  • Adhere to EMTALA, HIPAA, organizational policy, and state/federal regulations.
