About The Position

The position is for a part-time Registered Nurse (RN) in the Emergency Department at Atrium Health University City. The role requires working 24 hours per week, specifically from 11 PM to 7 AM, with weekend shifts required. The pay range for this position is between $34.90 and $52.35 per hour, and it is eligible for a sign-on bonus. The RN will engage in unit councils, professional governance, and quality initiatives to improve care processes and apply evidence-based practices. Responsibilities include utilizing the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care, monitoring patient conditions, and collaborating with the care team to influence care outcomes. The RN will also uphold a culture of safety, administer medications and treatments, and maintain accurate EHR documentation. The position may require floating to other units and demands knowledge of age-specific care requirements.

Requirements

  • Active, unrestricted registered nurse (RN) multi-state compact and/or single-state license with privileges to practice in the state(s) where the RN is providing client nursing services.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Graduate of a Board of Nursing approved nursing education program.
  • No formal RN experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Engages in unit councils, professional governance, and quality initiatives to improve care processes and apply evidence-based practices.
  • Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care, engaging patients and families from admission to post-discharge.
  • Monitors patient conditions, adjusts care plans, mobilizes resources, and collaborates with the care team to influence care outcomes.
  • Upholds and promotes a culture of safety.
  • Continuously evaluates patient, team, and unit outcomes, taking action as needed.
  • Administers medications, treatments, and therapies safely and according to clinical protocols and procedures.
  • Demonstrates effective communication, feedback, and conflict resolution, fostering team collaboration and appropriate delegation.
  • Pursues professional development, completes required education, and maintains certifications.
  • Adheres to the ANA Code of Ethics and practices ethical decision-making, respects interdisciplinary roles, and contributes to integrated, unbiased patient care.
  • Maintains accurate, timely EHR documentation.
  • May be required to float to other units, departments, or facilities within the designated service area to meet patient care needs.
