About The Position

The Registered Nurse - Ambulatory OBGYN position involves providing comprehensive nursing care to a designated group of patients, utilizing the nursing process to assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care. The role requires collaboration with physicians and healthcare team members to coordinate treatments and procedures, while also exercising leadership skills in managing patient care activities.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
• Current License to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State required.
• Must be enrolled in an accredited BSN program within two years and obtain a BSN Degree within five years of job entry date.
• Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
• Preferred: 1-2 years of OBGYN experience in inpatient/outpatient settings.

Responsibilities

• Conduct patient interviews and explain policies and procedures to patients and their significant others.
• Assess patients' gastrointestinal, cardiovascular, respiratory, renal, and neurological health status, and adjust care plans accordingly.
• Evaluate patients' psychosocial health status and identify cultural/ethnic requirements to ensure patient satisfaction.
• Develop individualized patient outcome statements and establish goals based on assessments.
• Coordinate the use of supplies, equipment, and medications to achieve expected patient outcomes.
• Implement care plans while ensuring safety precautions are followed and provide emotional support to patients and their families.
• Document patient care accurately and maintain communication with the healthcare team regarding changes in patient conditions.
• Assist physicians during treatments and diagnostic procedures, and ensure timely completion of care assignments.
• Administer medications safely and educate patients about drug interactions and side effects.
• Participate in patient and family education, providing explanations of conditions and discharge planning.
