About the department Bassett Medical Center's Birthing Center provides services to women and children across several counties in central New York. On average we deliver 1000 babies annually. We are proud to offer each of our patients an exceptional care experience, as our delivery model includes specially trained nurses, operating technicians, certified nurse midwifes, board certified obstetricians, lactation consultants, and a complementary anesthesia team and several support staff members. In 2022 our unit won the network award for patient experience and likelihood to recommend for our hospital. Training on the Birthing Center is rigorous and traditionally lasts six months and is customizable to individual learning needs. We support nurses in their path to confidence and lifelong education, as a dedicated unit practice educator works closely with existing staff on annual competencies and onboarding for new hires. The Labor and Delivery/Obstetrics unit is consistently hiring for Registered Nurses with various shift and position types available. You will have the opportunity to provide us with your preferences during the application process so we can discuss specific positions in our conversations. The Registered Professional Nurse (RN), Acute Care in the Labor and Delivery/Obstetrics unit is accountable for the delivery of safe patient care utilizing the nursing process. The RN assesses, plans, delivers, coordinates, integrates, and evaluates nursing care related to patient's needs. The RN contributes to the support of patients through interdisciplinary teamwork. Registered Nurse III: The RN II status requires 3 years' experience as an RN. One year of that experience must be within a relevant practice area. The RN III must be able to function as a preceptor, and it is preferred that the applicant have previous experience as a charge/resource nurse. Salary Range: $42.22 - $63.33 per hour Registered Nurse IV: the RN IV status requires 5 year's RN experience. Applicants with an Associate's Degree must have 3 out of the 5 years' experience in a relevant practice area. Applicants with a Bachelor's or Master's degree must have 2 of the 5 years' experience in the relevant practice area. RNIV's must be able to perform as a preceptor and must have certification in area of practice required (this requirement is waived for candidates with BSN or MSN degree). Salary Range: $43.93 - $65.89 per hour
