About The Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) - Acute/Cardiac Schedule/Shift: Part-Time / 24 hours weekly / Rotating Shift Location: Silver Spring, Maryland Position Highlights: Competitive pay; New Hire Retention Bonus available to qualified applicants Benefits – Medical, Dental & Vision, PTO, Free Parking, Metro Access, Tuition Reimbursement, 403(b) Quality of Life: Flexible work schedules Advancement: Opportunities to advance through the Clinical Advancement Program Unit Description: This 30-bed unit provides care to patients with primary cardiac diagnoses, as well as to medical patients that require cardiac telemetry monitoring. 4 South Acute/Cardiac is staffed by registered nurses, certified nursing assistants, health unit coordinators, and monitor technicians. Staff receive support from clinical educators and advanced practice nurses.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program; basic professional nursing degree (with requirement to obtain a BSN within a specific time frame)
  • Current licensure by the Maryland State Board of Nursing or Compact State as a Registered Nurse.
  • BLS certification (issued through the American Heart Association)
  • Current knowledge of nursing skills and practice
  • Computer and audiovisual skills using various applications: internet, email, word processing
  • Ability to retrieve and interpret data
  • Effectively read, speak, write, compose and comprehend English
  • Effective eye and hand coordination
  • Ability to analyze and synthesize information within a short period of time
  • Effective problem-solving skills
  • Ability to multi-task, organize and prioritize
  • Ability to work well with individuals and groups

Nice To Haves

  • BSN or MSN preferred
  • At least 1 year of nursing experience in an acute care setting

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to support patient-centered continuum of care.
  • Ability to communicate variances from patient goals and advocate on behalf of patient.
  • Maintain accurate and timely healthcare records.
  • Administer medications to patients, provide education and monitor for efficacy and side effects.
  • Assess, monitor, report and record patient condition and pertinent changes.
  • Design, implement and evaluate patient nursing care plans with healthcare team.
  • Educates patients and family throughout stay and in preparation for discharge.
