About The Position

The University of Miami is seeking a qualified candidate for a nursing position at the Sylvester Cancer Center. The role involves assessing assigned patients, evaluating care plans, and documenting nursing care. Responsibilities include modifying treatment plans based on patient responses, consulting with healthcare professionals, preparing patients for examinations, and providing psychological support. The nurse will also administer medications, maintain accurate records, communicate care plans, assist in discharge planning, and operate medical equipment. The position requires adherence to university policies and procedures, and the nurse will serve as a preceptor for new staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
  • Florida Registered Nurse License.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Certification (ACLS).
  • Basic Life Support Certification (BLS).
  • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Knowledge of nursing care methods and procedures.
  • In-depth knowledge of health and safety guidelines.
  • Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve problems.
  • Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.

Responsibilities

  • Assess assigned patients and evaluate care plans, documenting nursing care.
  • Modify patient treatment plans based on responses and physician orders.
  • Review, evaluate, and report diagnostic tests to assess patient conditions.
  • Consult with physicians and healthcare professionals regarding patient care.
  • Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and treatments.
  • Provide psychological support and consider patient age and culture in treatments.
  • Perform patient tests and safely administer medications.
  • Maintain accurate records related to medications and treatments.
  • Communicate care plans to patients, families, and team members.
  • Assist in discharge planning using available resources.
  • Plan, prioritize, and adjust assignments to ensure superior patient care.
  • Safely operate medical equipment.
  • Serve as a preceptor for new staff.
