About The Position

The University of Miami is seeking a qualified candidate for a nursing position within the UHealth-University of Miami Health System. This role involves performing assessments, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care in a timely and systematic manner. The nurse will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care and facilitate patient education. The position requires a commitment to maintaining professional standards and confidentiality while providing direct and indirect patient care.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current/valid Florida nursing license.
  • Less than 3 years recent nursing experience preferred.
  • Ambulatory experience preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proven track record of building relationships with physicians and staff.
  • Moderate to advanced computer literacy and skills.

Responsibilities

  • Performs screening focusing on the physical and psychosocial health status of the patient.
  • Obtains baseline information for the development of individualized patient plan of care.
  • Provides direct and indirect patient and family care to assess needs.
  • Facilitates patient/family education with interdisciplinary team involvement.
  • Monitors patient's progress against the plan of care until discharge.
  • Coordinates the plan of care with patients, family, and interdisciplinary team.
  • Ensures the plan of care is accessible to the patient and family.
  • Plans discharge and teaching needs as applicable.
  • Promotes development of clinical practice based on research and evidence.
  • Ensures that each clinic is well prepared with all medical records up to date.
  • Carries out physicians' orders such as ordering laboratory tests and imaging.
  • Develops a system to elevate abnormal results to the nurse.
  • Renders direct patient care by performing follow-up visits as per physician orders.
  • Acts as a liaison between patients, caregivers, and community resources.
  • Documents concise, accurate, and legible according to nursing policies.
  • Educates interdisciplinary team, patient/family on the plan of care.
  • Coordinates post-op procedures including home health care and social services.
  • Promotes patient safety and communicates changes in the plan of care.
  • Demonstrates creativity and innovation in problem-solving.
  • Leads crisis management and delegates care to qualified personnel.
  • Administers medication according to hospital policy.
