St. Elizabeth Healthcare is hiring a Registered Medical Assistant (MA) for their Heart Failure Clinic located within the Heart and Vascular Institute. This is a full-time position, 40 hours/week, First Shift, with no evenings, weekends, or holidays required, though travel to other NKY clinic sites may be necessary. The Certified Medical Assistant provides clinical support to physicians and mid-level providers, gives instructions to patients as directed, and ensures compliance with all OSHA/CLIA and HIPAA Regulations. This highly visible position is responsible for creating a positive impression with patients, family members, and visitors, providing customer-focused service, and supporting patient flow in a unit or department.

Requirements

  • H.S. Diploma/GED
  • Secretarial related courses
  • Graduate of accredited medical assisting school
  • Successfully completed registration/certification exam
  • Medical terminology
  • Computer fluency/literacy
  • Communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Maintain patient confidentiality
  • Organization and prioritization skills
  • 3 years related experience in a medical office setting including: customer service/receptionist/registration, scheduling, filing, telephone etiquette, patient billing, and computer service

Responsibilities

  • Provides clinical support to the physician and mid-level providers
  • Provides instructions to patients as directed by the providers
  • Responsible for compliance with all OSHA/CLIA and HIPAA Regulations
  • Ensures completion of all duties vital to business operations
  • Responsible for creating a positive impression with patients, family members, and other visitors to the office
  • Provide customer-focused service
  • Provide support to patient flow in a unit or department to include: patient registration, patient scheduling, patient billing, pre-certification (collect insurance information; receipt of co-pays or bill payments), medical records retrieval, release, or collection, data entry
  • Responsible for routine problem resolution
  • Assistance with patient flow coordination
  • Initiation of follow-up with appropriate staff as needed
  • Must demonstrate respect, dignity, kindness and empathy in each encounter with all patients, families, visitors and other employees regardless of cultural background
