About The Position

Under the supervision of the radiologist, department director and supervisor, the employee is responsible for the operation of mammography and radiography equipment to perform diagnostic exams while providing quality, expedient service to patients and physicians.

Requirements

  • Technical or Vocational school plus up to 2 years specialty training.
  • Radiologic Technologist certification.
  • 1 year of experience preferred.
  • Mammography registry within 1 year of hire.
  • Qualified by MQSA standards.
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
  • Training in an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology.

Responsibilities

  • Exhibits department and facility mission characteristics with patients, visitors, family members, co-workers, physicians and/or office staff members and others they may come in contact with as a representative of Tanner Health System, always presenting exemplary customer service.
  • Maintains appropriate and accurate records for each patient encounter, assuring confidentiality is maintained at all times.
  • Performs quality mammography and radiographic exams, i.e., mammography, stereotactic breast biopsies, needle localization and bone density; consistently meeting standards set by ACR and THS Radiologists.
  • Responsible for continuous compliance and maintenance of QA/QC functions related to mammographic equipment.
  • Responsible for maintaining all licenses, ACR and MQSA.
  • Completes Net Learning requirements.
  • Demonstrates competency and ability to navigate all computer modalities (Meditech, PACS and Web PACS, etc.).
  • Demonstrates competency in patient care according to the age of the patient and population served; adult and geriatric.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and compliance with hospital policy and procedures including but not limited to: safety, life safety, security, equipment, utilities, disaster preparedness, hazardous materials and waste.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of pain management and responds appropriately.
  • Distinguishes and responds appropriately to disaster and/or emergency situations.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all patient data and medical information.
  • Makes independent decisions and displays emotional maturity. Utilizes sound judgement in making decisions in the absence of the supervisor.
  • Makes suggestions for improvement of patient care, processes or procedures.
  • Monitors environment and assures patient, employee and visitor safety.
  • Participates in orientation and training of new employees.
  • Participates in PI/CQI and related activities. Understands and participates in The Joint Commission requirements.
  • Responds promptly to customer (patient, physician, etc.) requests.
  • Responsible for individual continuing education to maintain registry.
  • Responsible for monitoring, assisting and maintaining radiology equipment and accessories in satisfactory operating condition.
  • Safely and appropriately performs any other designated duties.
