About The Position

STV is seeking a Registered Land Surveyor to lead and manage geomatics and land surveying activities for a wide range of infrastructure and site development projects in the Georgia. This role requires strong technical expertise, sound professional judgment, and the ability to independently manage complex surveying assignments from concept through completion. The selected candidate can work out of our Chattanooga, TN, Acworth, Duluth, or Midtown Atlanta, Georgia offices. The candidate will support our regional expansion efforts beyond Georgia, supporting work in Tennessee, Kentucky, Alabama, Florida, South and North Carolina, and Virginia. The ideal candidate brings a balance of old-school boundary savvy and modern survey technology—someone who can run a crew, manage clients, and still spot an error before it ever reaches a plan set.

Requirements

  • Georgia Registered Land Surveyor (PLS/RLS) license (active and in good standing with ability to obtain Tennessee, Alabama, and other state licensure as requested)
  • Extensive experience in boundary, topographic, and construction stakeout surveying
  • Strong proficiency with: Electronic survey instruments and GPS systems, Field data collectors, AutoCAD and Civil 3D
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities independently
  • Proven experience leading survey teams and coordinating field and office efforts
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to apply creativity, foresight, and sound professional judgment
  • Excellent communication skills for client interaction and internal coordination

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and manage all surveying and geomatics activities for assigned projects
  • Serve as Project Manager for survey projects, including staff coordination, budgets, schedules, and client communication
  • Establish project scopes, fee estimates, schedules, and resource requirements
  • Coordinate and oversee field crews and Survey/CAD Technicians
  • Perform and oversee boundary, topographic, ALTA, and construction stakeout surveys
  • Utilize modern survey technologies including electronic instruments, field data collectors, and drone/UAS applications
  • Perform field checks and ensure quality control of all survey deliverables
  • Review and certify survey plans, plats, and legal descriptions
  • Ensure compliance with state regulations, professional standards, and STV quality procedures
  • Mentor and supervise junior survey staff, promoting professional growth and technical excellence
  • Collaborate with engineers, planners, and project teams across STV’s multidisciplinary practices
