About The Position

Echocardiograph technicians are an extremely specific kind of diagnostic medical sonographer dealing with the heart. Echo technicians use ultrasound devices and other imaging tools that use sound waves to create images of the heart. They inspect the chambers and walls of the heart as well as the valves. An echocardiogram can be administered externally on a patient's chest but can also be conducted by placing a tube down a patient's esophagus to get closer to the heart internally. A caregiver in this position works 7:30am - 5:00pm.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a two-year cardiovascular technology program.
  • Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) or Registered Cardiovascular Technologist (RCVT), RDCMS eligible.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients, families, physicians, and other caregivers.
  • Ability to empathize with patients and families.

Nice To Haves

  • Five years of experience in echo and vascular ultrasound experience.

Responsibilities

  • Perform echocardiograms, stress test, stress echoes, and Dobutamine stress echo.
  • Assist cardiologist with transesophageal echocardiograms.
  • Consult with cardiologist for interpretation of test results. Maintains records of testing for documentation.
  • Provide daily account of patient's charge requisition with appropriate ICD9 codes.
  • Provide training and acts as a resource for echocardiogram students, residents and physicians.
  • Provide testing for add-on emergency patients.
  • Always maintain complete and up-to-date documentation and files, including products and service quotes.
