About The Position
The University of Texas at Austin is seeking a Registered Dietitian to provide professional nutrition services, programming, and education for University Housing and Dining (UHD). This role is essential in ensuring compliance with federal and local guidelines for efficient operations within all UHD dining units. The Registered Dietitian will play a crucial role in menu and recipe development, maintaining the Food Pro and/or prevailing food management system, and ensuring the accurate input of ingredients, nutrition facts, and allergen data for inventory items. This position will also involve collaboration with purchasing to include allergen-free sections in convenience stores and leading the Grab & Go nutritional labeling initiative. In addition to menu management, the Registered Dietitian will plan and implement effective nutrition programming in collaboration with culinary teams, ensuring that all efforts align with HIPAA, ADA, and FERPA guidelines. The role includes partnering with Sustainability to engage local farmers and vendors, developing a student team for nutrition education, and collaborating with the culinary team on cooking classes. The Registered Dietitian will supervise part-time student staff and dietetic interns, provide nutritional counseling to students, and serve as a liaison with other campus professionals and departments. The position also requires advising on policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulations related to food safety, health, labeling, food allergies, and nutrition. Staff training, including Allergen and Serve Safe Training, is a key responsibility, along with conducting quality assurance audits and food safety audits of food service programs and dining operations. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
