About The Position

The Registered Dietitian is responsible for assessing nutritional needs, developing individualized care plans, and monitoring outcomes to promote health and well-being for residents. Working closely with nursing and dining services staff, this role ensures that all residents receive safe, appropriate, and enjoyable dining experiences tailored to their medical needs and personal preferences.

Requirements

  • Current NYS licensure as a Registered Dietitian (required).
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or a related field.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with both residents and interdisciplinary staff.
  • Ability to balance regulatory compliance with Kendal’s focus on dignity, respect, and individual choice.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in skilled nursing, geriatric care, or long-term care setting strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide nutritional assessments, develop care plans, and document according to NYS DOH and CMS regulations.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary care teams to support resident-centered dining and nutrition goals.
  • Monitor resident weight, hydration, and overall nutritional status, making adjustments as needed.
  • Support safe texture modifications, and therapeutic diets.
  • Educate residents, families, and staff on nutrition-related topics in skilled nursing and long-term care.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and survey readiness.
