About The Position

The Registered Dietitian (RD) provides specialized education and clinical guidance related to diabetes management, prevention, and other chronic diseases. This position supports patient- centered care through individualized education, nutrition counseling, care coordination, and the development of culturally responsive diabetes education programs. The Registered Dietitian also collaborates with the Community Health & Wellness Department to support diabetes prevention initiatives, including activities aligned with the Special Diabetes Program for Indians (SDPI). The Registered Dietitian works under the supervision of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and serves as a key member of the health care team at NATIVE HEALTH. Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Native Health Employee Handbook on evaluations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Dietetics from an accredited facility is required.
  • License in Arizona as a Registered Dietitian is required.
  • Obtain your Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) certification from the Certified Board for Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CBDCE) within your first two years at Native Health.
  • Must possess a valid and unrestricted Arizona driver’s license (within 30 days of hire if applicant is from out-of-state) with no DUI/DWI or reckless driving convictions in the last five years. No more than two at-fault accidents in the last three years. Must maintain a valid Arizona driver’s license during employment. Must be insurable under NATIVE HEALTH’s liability auto policy.
  • Must pass a criminal background check and obtain a Class I Fingerprint Clearance Card within the initial ninety (90) calendar days of employment and retain a valid card while employed with NATIVE HEALTH.
  • Must pass substance abuse testing upon employment and submit to random testing during employment.
  • Must provide an updated immunization (IZ) record at the time of employment.
  • Must have a current (within 12 months) Tuberculosis (TB) skin report upon employment and provide an annual update.
  • Must obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within (90) calendar days of employment and maintain certification during employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Three (3) years of experience caring for individuals with diabetes is preferred.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is highly preferred.
  • Experience in a community health setting is preferred.
