About The Position

The Health Programs Registered Dietitian (RD) plays a critical role in advancing Feeding Tampa Bay’s health and nutrition initiatives by delivering evidence-based nutrition services to neighbors experiencing food insecurity. This position focuses on medically tailored meals, nutrition education, and individualized counseling, while also supporting innovative, revenue-generating nutrition programming. The RD works collaboratively across departments and with community partners to improve health outcomes, promote food as medicine, and expand the organization’s impact.

Requirements

  • Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential, in good standing
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or a related field
  • Experience in community nutrition, public health, clinical nutrition, or food access programs
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills, with experience leading group education
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and communities
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • Customer Service experience, a plus
  • Experience working in low-income, culturally diverse community settings and a basic understanding of the challenges and barriers faced when individuals and families seek assistance. Knowledge and experience with homeless or housing-insecure populations, a plus
  • Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills; especially demonstrated ability to work with and communicate effectively over the phone and in person
  • Experience with public speaking and presentation skills. Facilitating internal and external training is a requirement of this role.
  • Ability to work outside in Florida weather conditions during events (1-3 hours)
  • Proven ability to handle and document deliverables and data from many sources. Spreadsheet skills a must.
  • Ability to work constructively with individuals (colleagues, the public, and volunteers) from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds in culturally diverse work environments.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Zoom, and Asana experience, a plus.
  • Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s license; may require driving within our 10-county service area
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams
  • Comfort operating in both clinical and community-based settings
  • Willing to actively participate in mission-driven programs, such as food distribution initiatives and disaster relief operations as needed.
  • All internal candidates must be in good standing with no corrective actions within the last 90 days.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with culinary and operations teams to develop medically appropriate, culturally responsive menus aligned with program standards and clinical guidelines for chronic conditions
  • Conduct nutrition assessments to determine eligibility and referral into medically tailored meal and other health programs
  • Perform ongoing nutrition reassessments to monitor participant progress, health outcomes, and program effectiveness
  • Document assessments, reassessments, and outcomes in accordance with program, grant, and regulatory requirements
  • Provide one-on-one nutrition counseling to neighbors by appointment, using a client-centered approach
  • Support individuals with chronic disease management, preventive nutrition, and behavior change strategies
  • Maintain accurate, confidential documentation consistent with privacy and data-use standards
  • Design and deliver disease specific nutrition education materials or events for community members, partners, and program participants
  • Collaborate with the nutrition education team to develop scalable nutrition and culinary curriculum for revenue-generating opportunities such as healthy cooking classes, workshops, and community trainings
  • Ensure health programs education content is evidence-based, culturally relevant, trauma-informed, and health-literacy appropriate
  • Create, review, and update nutrition education materials for all health and nutrition programs, including handouts, recipes, toolkits, and digital resources
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure materials align with organizational branding, health equity goals, and program objectives
  • As part of the Health Programs team the RD would also assist with integrated health programming, such as but not limited to overseeing program packings, contribute to program planning, evaluation, and continuous quality improvement efforts
  • Support grant reporting, data collection, and outcome measurement related to nutrition services
  • Assist with health programming by coordinating food flow operations to healthcare partners, including collaboration between procurement, transportation and warehouse teams.
  • Support programmatic grant implementation tasks as needed.

  • Provide client-centered and community-centered nutrition services such as 1:1 nutrition counseling and community nutrition education at FTB’s Causeway Center
  • Create clinically aligned, evidence-backed medically tailored meals menus to support Medically Tailored Meals programming
  • Support Health Programs team with FTB health and nutrition programming and initiatives
  • Comfortable with a combination of work environments such as office, kitchen, community and program sites
  • Serve as a first responder during natural disasters, supporting community distributions, emergency hotline coverage, and triage services as needed.
  • Represent FTB and Health Programs internally and externally to the highest standard.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative culture for Neighbors, volunteers, and peers within Health Programs.
  • Embrace, uphold, and embody FTB’s mission and Grow Code in neighbor, community, and internal interactions
  • Maintain regular communication with supervisor
  • Occasionally represent Feeding Tampa Bay at community events and meetings
  • Assist other Feeding Tampa Bay staff on special projects
  • Commit to upholding policies, principles and best practices for food safety, transportation and warehouse
