About The Position

The Registered Dietitian at Mountain Park Health Center (MPHC) plays a crucial role in providing comprehensive nutrition assessments and counseling services to patients. Under the supervision of the RD Manager, the Dietitian is responsible for mentoring employees, delivering medical nutrition therapy, and ensuring compliance with federal guidelines. This position emphasizes the importance of nutrition in health and disease management, while also promoting positive patient relations and community engagement.

Requirements

  • Must be a Registered Dietitian and member of the American Dietetic Association.
  • Bachelor degree or higher in Human Nutrition, Food Science, Public Health or related field.
  • Knowledge of nutrition and dietary principles, and the ability to apply this knowledge in providing high-quality nutritional care.
  • Knowledge of the relationship between nutrition and disease, with the ability to explain this relationship to patients and prescribe relevant dietary changes.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the public.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual (Spanish/English, Somali/English) preferred.
  • Experience in community nutrition, counseling low-income, high-risk patients of specific dietary needs preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides medical nutrition therapy to patients.
  • Obtains nutrition/dietary histories of patients on referral, records and analyzes findings, evaluates the patient's dietary and nutritional needs, and suggests changes as indicated.
  • Plans educational programs and curricula for patients, including written objectives, methods, content, and evaluation.
  • Provides information needed on nutritional components for MPHC grants.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of developmental changes in age and adjusts prescribed treatment accordingly.
  • Assures that appropriate nutrition education materials are distributed and accessible to patients and staff.
  • Provides nutrition consultation and in-service education to professional and paraprofessional staff when requested.
  • Participates in MPHC and community health fairs as scheduling permits.
  • Participates in studies/grant evaluations and updates, and may initiate nutrition studies as appropriate.
  • Attends in-house staff meetings/committee meetings.
