About The Position

The Registered Dietitian in the Division of Physical Activity and Weight Management provides evidence-based nutrition counseling and medical nutrition therapy to individuals participating in research studies focusing on obesity and other chronic health conditions. This position is responsible for assessing nutritional status, implementing nutrition interventions, and monitoring patient progress using established clinical research protocols. The Registered Dietitian also supports research initiatives by assisting with participant assessments, recruitment, data collection, and study coordination activities.

Requirements

  • Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) credential or eligible.
  • Kansas dietitian license or eligible.
  • Experience in two or more of the following areas, obtained through education, employment, internships, or volunteer activities: Weight management programs or counseling. Nutrition counseling within a clinical, community, or research setting.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in dietetics, human nutrition, health psychology, counseling, or related field.
  • Two (2) years of experience with community, clinical, or research programs focused on nutrition counseling and related health-behavior modification.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive nutrition assessments including diet history, lifestyle factors, and psychosocial influences on health.
  • Provide individualized nutrition counseling and medical nutrition therapy using evidence-based practices and program protocols.
  • Implement appropriate nutrition interventions tailored to specific clinical research outcomes.
  • Document participant assessments, interventions, and follow-up visits.
  • Monitor participant progress, reassess nutritional needs, and modify care plans accordingly.
  • Provide weight management education to individuals and groups through structured behavioral sessions.
  • Assist with clinical assessments for research participants, including collection of anthropometric measures (e.g., weight, height, blood pressure) and administration of study questionnaires.
  • Support interventions related to behavior modification for eating habits.
  • Assist with recruitment, enrollment, and retention of participants in research studies.
  • Coordinate scheduling of research participants visits and assessments.
  • Enter research data into designated study databases and maintain accurate records.
  • Assist with organization and maintenance of research study documentation.
  • Collaborate with research staff and investigators to support study implementation and data quality.
