About The Position

The Registered Dietitian I position at Kaiser Permanente in Antioch, California, is responsible for providing clinical nutrition care and services to patients. This role involves assessing patients' nutritional risks, developing individualized care plans, counseling patients and their families, and coordinating with food service staff to ensure quality nutrition services. The dietitian will work across various specialties and contribute to the overall quality and performance improvement of clinical nutrition services.

Requirements

  • Six months of experience in clinical nutrition as a registered dietitian.
  • If working in End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD), at least one year of experience in clinical nutrition as a registered dietitian is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Food and/or Nutritional Science.
  • National Provider Identifier required at hire.
  • Commission on Dietetic Registration.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nutritional care that is customer-focused and cost-effective while maintaining high-quality service standards.
  • Conduct nutritional screening and assessment of patients for appropriate nutrition intervention.
  • Develop individualized nutrition care plans based on patients' age, sex, diagnosis, cultural background, pain level, preferences, and religious practices in accordance with physician orders.
  • Conduct audits and menu reviews to ensure patient menus meet nutritional requirements and physician orders.
  • Develop meal plans that align with members' lifestyles.
  • Document in medical records as appropriate.
  • Coordinate activities with the food service department to ensure quality and accuracy of food served to patients.
  • Monitor the accuracy of trays related to the MNT or diet order according to the diet manual.
  • Check for product quality and follow up on corrections with management or vendors.
  • Write assessments, implement nutritional care plans, and monitor patient progress per protocol.
  • Participate in the design, development, and implementation of high-quality, cost-effective food and clinical nutrition programs.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining nutrition care and service standards.
  • Participate in quality, service, and performance improvement processes related to clinical nutrition services delivery.
  • Conduct quality assurance audits and participate in committees and meetings to report information.
  • Assist in compiling audit information and standard setting.
  • Provide feedback on menu modifications and revisions to Division Food and Clinical Nutrition Services staff.
  • Provide input to the budget process.
  • May provide in-service training to staff.
  • Perform other related duties as necessary.
