About The Position
This position is a great opportunity for a Registered Dietician to educate diabetes patients on improving quality of life through diet and nutrition.
Requirements
- Graduate of a Nursing program with an emphasis on diabetes education or Bachelors of Science in dietetics, nutrition, or a related field.
- Experience as dietician or diabetes nutrition.
- Current License as Registered Dietitian (RD), Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE), or Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES), or RN with emphasis on diabetes education required
Nice To Haves
- Two (2) years of experience in a clinical setting preferred.
- Experience in Diabetes Education preferred.
Responsibilities
- Functions in the specialty role of Diabetes Educator by providing direct patient care in the acute care and ambulatory settings based on consultative requests from the medical staff.
- Works closely with the entire medical staff and nursing staff to prepare patients for discharge in a safe, efficient manner.
- Provides tools and skills for homecare to patients and families.
- Makes recommendations to hospital staff for changes in diabetes management.
- Serves as an educational and informational resource to all hospital staff and the community.
