About The Position

The Dietician will perform a comprehensive nutritional assessment, formulate a personalized nutrition plan, and provide counseling and education to the patient based on the assessment findings. This is a Part-time position for 25 hours per week. This is a remote (work form home) position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in nutrition/Dietetics or related field required.
  • Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN), (current active and unrestricted, in state of current practice and residence, within the Unites States or its territories).
  • 3 -5 years in a healthcare setting.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills

  • Excellent critical thinking skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to handle difficult situations tactfully and diplomatically.
  • Effective problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in MS Office Suite products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Knowledge of community resources.
  • A clear and concise understanding of the psychological/psychosocial issues relating to health and illness.
  • A clear and concise understanding of nutrition and its impact on health and illness.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • The Dietitian will practice within the scope of his/her licensure.
  • Perform nutritional assessment to identify the nutritional needs of the patient which may impact on any disease process and overall health.
  • Develop and implement a nutritional plan of care to provide appropriate education, counseling and resources to address needs.
  • Identify barriers to compliance with established plan of care and develop appropriate solutions utilizing available resources.
  • Collaborate with other professionals to evaluate patient’s medical or physical condition and to assess client’s needs.
  • Use effective listening techniques to identify where the member is in their stages of behavior change and responds appropriately.
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with community agencies, providers, and other healthcare workers.
  • Assist patients with locating various resources within their communities and with Patient Assistance Programs.
  • Assist patients with developing self-management skills.
  • Assist patients with coordinating care across the continuum of services.
  • Encourage the patient to follow the plan of care.
  • Provides emotional support to patients and families.
  • Participates as a member of the multi-disciplinary team.
  • Continuously gather, update and review information to include (but not limited to) collecting psychosocial assessment information.
  • Maintain documentation in the computer system.
  • Use good organizational skills to manage time and resources efficiently.
  • Use effective writing style to organize information and thoughts and present them clearly and concisely in documentation and correspondence.
  • Take actions upon any awareness of non-medical issues which involve the participant’s safety or welfare and attempt to direct the participant or family to appropriate providers or community resources, or to personally notify appropriate authorities.
  • Adhere to all company policies as stated in the employee handbook.
  • Always maintain a professional attitude and approach using tact, courtesy, self-control, patience, loyalty, and discretion to work harmoniously with others.
  • Maintain the ability to adapt to new situations and changing work responsibilities.
  • Participate in the Quality Management Program by adhering to all company policies and procedures and identifying opportunities for improvement to ensure quality services are rendered to clients and customers.
