About The Position

The Registered Dietician/Nutritionist I will work at the World Trade Center Health Program's Long Island Clinical Center of Excellence at Stony Brook Medicine. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in nutrition or related degree program.
  • Completion of a Dietetic Internship.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in nutrition or related field.
  • Registered Dietitian or RD-eligible status.
  • Experience providing personal and group counseling on diet and lifestyle improvements.
  • Experience in medical documentation using an electronic medical record system.
  • Previous internship experience with the World Trade Center Health and Wellness Program.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate needs of the WTC responder population regarding nutritional programming and assist in developing educational programs.
  • Assess individual patient nutritional status and needs, develop individualized nutritional plans, and document in patients' medical records.
  • Collect data and write reports to evaluate effectiveness and provide insights and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with clinical and member services teams to provide excellent care, including scheduling appointments and educating members.
  • Assist with administrative and clerical support in collaboration with the case management team and care providers.
  • Create and maintain spreadsheets and databases for nutrition appointments and communications.
  • Produce and maintain thorough, accurate, and timely documentation in the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system.
  • Document interactions with members, detailing services provided and outcomes of calls.
  • Assist with member pre-screening assessments and face-to-face assessments.
  • Regularly collaborate with case management and communicate with members and interdisciplinary team members.
  • Assist nutrition faculty on research projects involving the WTC responder population.
  • Attend and participate in meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
