Requirements

  • Valid Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) license in accordance with state regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients and colleagues.
  • Proficiency in performing dental cleanings, scaling, and root planing procedures.
  • Knowledge of dental anatomy, physiology, and pathology.
  • Ability to operate dental equipment such as ultrasonic scalers, polishing tools, and x-ray machines.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work accurately in a fast-paced environment.
  • Empathy and patience when working with patients who may experience dental anxiety or discomfort.
  • Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and privacy.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough dental cleanings to remove plaque, tartar, and stains from teeth.
  • Perform oral examinations to assess the health of gums and teeth, noting any abnormalities or signs of disease.
  • Take and develop dental x-rays as necessary for diagnostic purposes.
  • Administer fluoride treatments and apply dental sealants to protect teeth from decay.
  • Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, including brushing, flossing, and dietary habits.
  • Assist dentists during procedures by providing suction, passing instruments, and maintaining a sterile environment.
  • Document patient treatment plans, procedures performed, and any significant findings in dental records.
  • Schedule follow-up appointments and provide patients with post-treatment instructions and recommendations.
  • Stay current with advancements in dental hygiene techniques and technologies through continuing education and professional development.
  • Uphold strict infection control protocols to ensure the safety and well-being of patients and staff.
