About The Position

The Registered Dental Hygienist is responsible for the provision of preventative and treatment services in a Patient Centered Health Home context, with a focus on access to care.

Requirements

  • Possesses specific advanced knowledge skills, including written and verbal communications skills, computational, computer and technical skills, and mathematical knowledge acquired through the completion of an accredited Dental Hygiene program.
  • Must have proof of completing a Radiation Safety Course.
  • Ability to create highly complex documents in Microsoft Word, including linking multiple files and embedding objects linked to other documents.
  • Ability to use advanced functions of Microsoft Excel, such as to create and manage databases, including creating standardized reports, or link multiple worksheets and workbooks.
  • Ability to develop sophisticated presentations in Microsoft PowerPoint, including the use of embedded objects, transitions and other elements.
  • Licensed as a Dental Hygienist with the state of California.
  • Job duties require the compilation and analysis of information prepared in effective written form, including correspondence, reports, articles or other documentation.
  • Duties require preparation and execution of presentations to large groups.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting oral health assessments.
  • Review/screen oral health conditions (which includes and is not limited to health history, oral cancer screenings, head/neck inspection, dental charting, blood pressure/pulse).
  • Take dental radiographs.
  • Take dental impressions and pouring models.
  • Performing all preventative and hygiene services in accordance with California Dental practice act.
  • Remove calculus and plaque (hard and soft deposits) from all surfaces of the dentition.
  • Polish and contour restorations.
  • Apply preventative materials to teeth (includes and not limited to sealants and fluoride).
  • Teach patients appropriate oral hygiene strategies (brushing, flossing, and nutritional counseling.)
  • Maintaining sanitary/sterile armamentarium.
  • Adhere to current infection control procedures.
  • Assure operatory is sanitary and set up for procedure.
  • Work with dental assistants to make sure that instruments are appropriate.
  • Organizing/assisting community oral health events.
  • Collaborate with community health staff.
  • Conduct and record oral health findings.
  • Assure completion of forms and signatures for assessments.
  • Organize and maintaining follow up procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
