Join us and be part of something extraordinary. Job Description: POSITION SUMMARY: Develop, implement, and evaluate dental health programs to protect and promote oral health of clients. Perform clinical dental health care services. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Clinical care—Identifies and evaluates dental needs of individuals by conducting a dental history and reviewing their medical history; conducts oral exams of the hard and soft tissue of the mouth checking for decay, plaque accumulation and other anomalies; evaluates periodontal health by probing; performs scaling and root planing; administers oral prophylaxis and topical fluoride treatments; discusses causes and solutions to oral hygiene problems with patients; checks and maintains dental equipment and sharpens and sterilizes instruments. Health Education—Presents to or provides dental educational materials to schools, community groups, and other interested parties. Plan/schedule/conduct in-service dental health programs. Teaches skills to individuals and groups for effective plaque removal. Reviews annual dental objectives and maintains electronic dental records; plans, develops, and conducts dental health surveys and uses results to evaluate program effectiveness; reviews inventory of dental supplies and education material. Program planning/operations—Assesses community dental health needs and helps develop and evaluate programs to meet those needs; coordinates program services with communities, schools, various agencies, and organizations to avoid duplication and to augment existing services. PERFORMANCE STANDARDS/CRITERIA: Performs clinical/dental services at an average rate of at least one patient per hour. Provides clinical/dental services to at least 700 - 800 individuals over a twelve month period. Follow and implement all CLIA, OSHA, and HIPAA policies and procedures. Awareness/acceptance of cultural competency and sensitivity aspects. Possess and utilize good and effective communication skills. Responsible to learn and implement the DSHC electronic dental record (EDR) program following health center policies. Merit increases will be based on random chart reviews, patient satisfaction, lab recording, call-backs, team participation and implementation/participation in PCMH standards as applicable to dental services. Productivity may also be used to evaluate consideration for pay adjustments. Other: Ability to travel as needed. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Licensed as a Registered Dental Hygienist in Idaho, including local anesthesia administration credentials Willing and able to carry equipment weighing approximately 40 pounds. Licensed Idaho driver with dependable car. SUPERVISION AND EVALUATION: CEO & Dental Director/Staff dentist as assigned. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Public health experience. Experience working with minorities or disadvantaged groups. Educator experience with individuals and groups. Demonstrated knowledge of current dental practice. Bicultural/bilingual or experience working with Hispanic population.
