Registered Dental Hygienist - PT

In your role as a Registered Dental Hygienist you will report to the Dental Clinic Manager. Your responsibilities will include completing dental prophylaxis, oral cancer screening, charting conditions of decay and disease, and performing procedures in compliance with the scope of a Registered Dental Hygienist.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Graduate of an accredited dental hygiene program
- Current licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist by the Dental Hygiene Committee of California
- BLS certified
- At least one year of experience preferred
Responsibilities
- Prepare treatment room for patient
- Prepare patient for dental hygiene treatment
- Document appropriate medical and dental histories in patient medical record
- Detect disease by completing oral cancer screening, examining gums, and using probes to locate periodontal disease and to assess levels of recession. Initiate referral to a Dentist as clinically indicated
- Arrest dental decay by applying fluorides and other cavity preventing agents
- Select material and equipment for dental hygiene visit by evaluating patient's oral health
- Complete dental prophylaxis by cleaning deposits and stains from teeth and from beneath gum margins
- Educate patients by providing oral hygiene and plaque control instructions
- Educate patients on proper brushing technique and adequate oral health
- Maintain instrumentation for dental hygiene treatment
- Maintain dental supply inventory, ensuring adequate stock
