About The Position

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) to join our dynamic dental clinic team in San Luis Obispo, CA. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of dental procedures and practices, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow while providing exceptional patient care. This role requires a commitment to maintaining high standards of hygiene and infection control, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with dentists and other staff members.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of dental anatomy, procedures, and terminology is essential.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality.
  • Experience in a dental clinic setting is preferred; prior roles involving medical documentation or medical records management are advantageous.
  • Proficiency in infection control practices specific to dental care.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills to interact positively with patients and team members.
  • Certification as a Dental Assistant is preferred but not mandatory; willingness to obtain certification is required.
  • Experience with endodontics is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures by providing necessary instruments and materials.
  • Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all necessary supplies are available.
  • Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) in compliance with safety regulations.
  • Maintain accurate medical documentation and patient records, adhering to HIPAA guidelines.
  • Educate patients on oral hygiene, post-operative care, and preventive dental practices.
  • Manage appointment scheduling, including coordinating with the dental receptionist for patient flow.
  • Ensure compliance with infection control protocols in accordance with industry standards.
  • Support endodontic procedures by preparing materials and assisting the dentist as needed.
  • Utilize dental software such as Epic or Eaglesoft for patient management and record keeping.
