About The Position

The position involves practicing and performing under the delegation and direct supervision of facility-credentialed board certified/eligible cardiovascular medical specialists. The role includes assisting as a 'first scrub assistant' for highly technical cardio and peripheral vascular procedures. The candidate must possess the knowledge, experience, efficiency, and proficiency to perform tasks as deemed necessary by the departmental management team, focusing on teamwork by functioning as a scrub assistant, circulator, and monitoring assistant.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED Equivalent: General Studies.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification - American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) within 60 days of hire or transfer.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Certification or Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) Certification.

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years of Cardiology Experience.
  • 5+ years of Clinical Experience.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare the procedure tray according to the Physician's preference and following sterile technique before the patient arrives.
  • Work as a team member, coordinating the day's schedule with all staff members in the lab to efficiently finish the day's workload.
  • Demonstrate thorough knowledge of patient positioning, principles of CR/DR, Fluoroscopy, and quality control.
  • Assist physicians in performing procedures and provide a learning environment.
  • Demonstrate competence in collimation and positioning of equipment and patients to produce high diagnostic quality images.
  • Develop and maintain performance standards for all exams performed in the lab.
  • Participate in quality control/performance improvement in the Cardiac Cath lab/Ep.
  • Act as an agent of the supervising physician for any medical services delegated within the Advanced Practice Clinician's scope of practice.
  • Exhibit a thorough understanding of cardiovascular medications.
  • Institute appropriate emergency measures in critical situations until the physician is notified.
  • Serve as a resource person for providers, nursing staff, ancillary personnel, and patient/families.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
