About The Position

This position involves performing all types of Cardiac Ultrasound procedures including Transthoracic Echocardiogram, Treadmill Stress Echocardiograms, and Dobutamine Stress Echocardiograms. The role requires operating ultrasound equipment, performing portable exams in various hospital areas, and maintaining patient records. Requirements

• Specialized post-secondary training equal to two years of college.
• Registration required by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) for cardiac specialties.

Responsibilities

• Performs specialized or general procedures according to established departmental protocols.
• Operates all types of Ultrasound equipment and performs portable exams in various areas throughout the hospital.
• Records images and makes hard copies (CD’s) where applicable.
• Uses Epic to schedule and complete exams and completes preliminary reports in Epic.
• Serves as a resource to sonographers, MDs, and students.
• Assists in the care and maintenance of facilities, equipment, and supplies.
• Maintains a clean and safe work area and reports any hazardous conditions or equipment breakdown to supervisor.
• Provides proper patient care, interviews patients for required information, and explains procedures to ensure understanding.
• Positions patients as required and takes vital signs as needed.
• Maintains patient records and statistics accurately.
• Labels sonograms properly to assist in diagnosis and ensures correct identification.
• Notifies physicians immediately of results revealing patient risks.
• Maintains records, reports, and files as required or directed.
