About The Position

If you love combining advanced imaging skills with meaningful patient care, this role is for you. As a key part of our cardiovascular team, you will perform high quality cardiac ultrasound exams including spectral, color, and tissue doppler studies, stress echoes, pharmacologic stress echoes, and TEEs. You will operate mobile ultrasound equipment throughout the hospital, and every study you perform will be reviewed and interpreted by a staff cardiologist. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Active registry status through ARDMS with RDCS credential or RCS credential through CCI.
  • Current BLS certification upon hire, maintained continuously.
  • Ability to independently perform echoes, pharmacologic stress echoes, and TEEs.
  • Strong knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy and physiology.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills to explain procedures and collaborate with staff, along with written skills for accurate documentation.
  • Understanding of human development and the ability to work effectively with patients of all ages.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and safely position patients.

Responsibilities

  • Perform echocardiograms independently by following established procedures and clearly explaining each test to the patient.
  • Capture all measurements needed for complete echocardiograms, including color flow, spectral, and tissue doppler.
  • Process each study by completing the appropriate worksheet for physicians.
  • After competency evaluation, administer saline contrast bubbles and contrast agents through an intravenous line.
  • Maintain all equipment and supplies required to perform exams safely and effectively.
  • Keep accurate logs, copy studies, and enter exam details into the database.
  • Transfer studies within the appropriate time frame for physician interpretation.
  • Perform stress echoes and pharmacologic stress echoes in digital format.
  • Perform transesophageal echocardiograms.
  • Support ongoing education for students, fellows, and cardiac sonographer levels 1 and 2.
  • Promote quality improvement, staff and patient safety, and cultural diversity through your daily work.
  • Provide care appropriate for each patient's age, demonstrating the knowledge and skills needed to meet their physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs.
  • Present a courteous, positive, and helpful attitude to all patients, visitors, coworkers, and anyone you interact with while representing the organization.
  • Stay current with all statutes, regulations, guidelines, and standards required for your role. Follow the Code of Conduct, Corporate Compliance Plan, and all related policies, including training and department compliance activities.
