Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to age-specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in the department’s policies and procedures. Summary The Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) demonstrates excellent customer service performance in that his/her attitude and actions are at all times consistent with the standards contained in the Vision, Mission and Values of Mary Free Bed. This individual implements specific curriculum designed to work toward each child’s Treatment Plan, goals, and individual needs, monitors individual and group programs. This individual completes, priorities and organizes technical aspects of patient care as delegated and supervised by the Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). RBT’s implement line therapy, typically in a 1:1 ratio, with children diagnosed with autism.

Requirements

  • Associates degree or equivalent credits or 3 years of experience working with children required
  • Registered Behavioral Therapist training course completion required prior to hire date and exam to be successfully completed within 3 months of completion of Initial Competency Assessment.
  • Knowledge of departmental policies, procedures and business operations and how they interrelate to other departments in the organization.
  • Minimal typing skills of 40 words/ minute.
  • Working knowledge and basic skills in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, email.
  • Must be a team player with the ability to work independently, as well as in small or large teams
  • Protects and maintains the confidential nature of information.
  • Heartsaver CPR/AED/First Aid/Blood Borne Pathogen within 180 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate with Bachelor’s Degree Preferred: Psychology, special education, education, speech, occupational, medicine; or related field.
  • Previous experience working with children with autism or RBT preferred
  • Therapy clinic experience in clinical setting preferred

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates excellent customer service.
  • Greets & services patients and family in a courteous, professional manner.
  • Ensures that customer needs are addressed, and expectations are met and/or exceeded.
  • Contributes to organization success targets from patient satisfactions, quality outcomes and net operating margin.
  • Assist patient/family with questions and concerns and involve BCBA in communications as it relates to care and progress
  • Collects data and implements approved programs using principles of applied behavior analysis
  • Maintain daily data collection, records and written daily communication
  • Applies reinforcement appropriately and specifically throughout the day
  • Assists in organizing and participating in structured group activities utilizing leader-prompter model and reinforcement
  • Maintains professional communication with families through authorized daily notes and verbal communications
  • Carries out treatment plan and programming during parent observations
  • Supports Manager/Coordinator in assigned duties
  • Maintains confidentiality with information in the appropriate manner.
  • Demonstrates an awareness of self-responsibility and accountability for own professional practice
  • Maintains professional standards by obtaining and maintaining RBT credentials and abiding by RBT code of ethics as set by the BACB
  • Attends/participates in departmental meetings/communications.
  • Actively participates in orientation, supervision, training and evaluation of students and other staff.
  • Displays high regard for personal dignity, diversity and uniqueness of individuals (Cultural/Religious Sensitivity; Confidentiality; Privacy; Age specific Needs).
