The Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) is a paraprofessional who practices under the close, ongoing supervision of a BCBA or BCaBA. The RBT is primarily responsible for the direct implementation of behavior analytic services. The RBT does not design intervention or assessment plans. It is the responsibility of the RBT supervisor to determine which tasks an RBT may perform as a function of his or her training, experience, and competence. The BACB certificant supervising the RBT is responsible for the work performed by the RBT on the cases they are overseeing. The RBT will provide social skills instruction and behavior reduction protocols based upon the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis to children with Autism, Social-Emotional Disabilities, and related developmental disabilities in the school setting. The RBT will collect data on programs, assist with teacher and staff training, and assist the Behavior Specialist and School Psychologists with behavioral assessments as needed. The RBT will be responsible for supporting in classrooms and modeling behavioral supports and interventions to school staff under the direction of the Behavior Specialist. At all times, the RBT is required to follow the prescribed behavioral skill acquisition and behavior reduction protocols, utilize safe & appropriate handling procedures when working with students, maintain student confidentiality, and maintain a clean, safe, and organized work and learning environment.
