About The Position

Laurel Heights Hospital is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) to assist in the acquisition of functional skills and decrease challenging behaviors in individuals diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). This role is in a residential setting where the RBT will be responsible for data collection, implementing behavior intervention plans (BIPs) developed by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), and executing skill acquisition protocols. These protocols include functional communication training (FCT), social skills, toileting, other activities of daily living, and play and leisure skills. The RBT will also support various behavioral assessments, staff training, and monitoring. The ideal candidate should demonstrate a positive attitude, strong teamwork, collaboration with other disciplines, adherence to Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) guidelines, effective work under BCBA supervision, and a passion for working with individuals on the Autism Spectrum.

Requirements

  • Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) Certification
  • Must have a High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Acceptable oral and written communication skills
  • Legible handwriting
  • Ability to maintain information as highly confidential
  • Telephone etiquette and customer service skills by phone and face-to-face
  • Skills in prioritizing and in managing time
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Use of appropriate social skills, including demonstration and respect for staff and patients
  • Empathy toward children and adolescents
  • Skills in limit-setting
  • Able to respond to children/adolescents in a firm yet nurturing, caring manner, while maintaining professional boundaries
  • Willingness to seek supervision
  • Must have a valid Georgia’s Driver's License
  • Ability to learn required concepts and develop skills within a reasonable time frame via the organization’s orientation and training program (if not possessed upon hire)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a residential facility
  • Experience in a similar setting working with behaviorally disordered children and adolescents, preferably those with an Autism Spectrum Disorder or related development disabilities
  • Experience preferably within an inpatient setting
  • Familiarity with medical and psychological terminology
  • Basic knowledge of human behavior or principles of psychology
  • Basic knowledge of child growth and development
  • Experience working with abused children/adolescents
